Where We Are

What We Believe

The Bible – We believe that the Bible is – from the first word of Genesis, to the last word of Revelation – God’s complete message to man. Because it is inspired (literally God breathed,) it is perfect and without error. It is the basis of all our beliefs, and it is a compass to guide our lives.

God – God has existed eternally in three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three persons are one. God exists outside of space and time and has always been.

God the Father – God the Father created the heavens and earth. He is eternally sovereign – that is, He is in control. In fact, there is nothing that happens that is outside of his control.

Jesus Christ – Co-existent with the Father from eternity past, Jesus came to earth, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died a sacrificial death on a cross. Three days later, He rose from the dead. He then ascended into heaven where he is now with the Father. He will return to earth one day in triumph. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, we can have a relationship with God.

Holy Spirit – The third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, draws people to God, and indwells believers giving them power to live in obedience to God. The Holy Spirit enters believers at the point of salvation and empowers them with spiritual gifts as God wills. The purpose of those gifts is so that the body of Christ (the Church) can minister effectively.

Salvation – Salvation is a free gift from God that is by grace through faith. Nothing we can do can merit salvation. It is only by Jesus Christ, His sacrificial death and miraculous resurrection, that we can have a right relationship with God. Because salvation is a work of God from start to finish, it is God who seals the believer into a right relationship with Himself. While good works do not earn salvation, a life obedient to God is the outward sign of a changed heart.
